Darlene Simpson

Darlene Simpson, 68, of Baxter, passed away on January 14th, 2021 at Hazard ARH following a sudden illness. She was devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and was a friend to all that knew her. She loved cooking, gardening, fishing, her pets, bingo, and most importantly telling stories and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Hewey Simpson, her mother Margie Cornett, father Howard McDowell, Step-Father Dalmus Cornett, Brother Russell Cornett, grandmother Ethel Harris, grandfather Enoch Harris, and two uncles who held a special place in her heart David Harris and Lester Harris.
She is survived by her children: David Simpson, Lester Simpson and wife Crystal, and Wanda Weaver. Grandchildren: Beth Weaver, Lauren Sells, husband Jimmy, and great granddaughter Kallie Sells. She also leaves behind a host of friends and family who will mourn her loss.
Visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home on Monday, January 18th at 11am until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Due to the mandate set forth by the governor of Kentucky, attendees must wear a mask at all times, practice social distancing and only 50% of our capacity is allowed.
