Frances Scott

Frances Kelly Scott, 96, of Harlan, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018 at the Tri-State Health
& Rehabilitation Center in Harrogate, TN.
She was born July 30, 1922 in Evarts, KY to the late Dan and Dora (Jones) Kelly. She graduated
from Eastern Kentucky University and spent 32 years teaching at Mary Helen School, Black
Mountain School, North Evarts Elementary and Harlan City Schools. She was a skilled
craftsperson and excelled at quilting, silk ribbon and crewel embroidery and beautiful Christmas
tree ornaments made from eggs.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Robert Scott, Jr., sister Geneva Vires, and
brothers Bruce Kelly and Dan Kelly, Jr.
She is survived by her nephew David Kelly of Cincinnati, nieces Judy Gulley of Harrogate, TN,
Patsy (Ed) Walton of Cincinnati, Tish (Mike) Coldiron of Harlan, Sally (Dan) Ackley of Lake
Mary, FL and many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Also surviving her are beloved friends Ruth Clark, Linda Clark, Betty Buttermore and Betty Jean
Lewis.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Thursday November 15, 2018 in The Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11PM until 12PM followed by a Funeral Service at 12PM. Bill Duncan will be officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
