Hershel Bray

Hershel Bray, age 84, of Cawood, KY passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born July 27, 1929 in Pound, VA. He was the last living child of the late Hanford and Bertha Bray. He believed in the Pentecostal faith. He was a retired coal miner with the Bray Coal Company. He loved the outdoors and hunting for roots in the mountains.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mikey Bray; brothers and sisters: Woodrow, Earl, Frank, Floyd, Ross, Roy, Margaret, Ruby, Lola, Nanny, Bernice; cousins: Vernon, Kimmy, and Roy Bray.
He is survived by his caregivers who took very good care of him, Jennifer Dean and Susan Goodie, Michelle and Casey Ledford, Danny Dean, Chester Goodie, Ruby Clem, Shelly Lasley, John, Henry, Faye, and Tina Belcher and Charlie Ledford. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews: Marylynn, Rick, Jerry, Sam, Linda, Junie, Rod, Willie, Brenda, Sue Ann, Jessie, Jack, Charlotte, Berthalynn, Terry, Ronnie, and Danny Bray, Doug Frank Jr., Faye, Dillard, James, Harold, Gene Bray, Lou, Roy, Lauren, and Kayla. Also, a pet cat, “Baby,” that he loved dearly; special workers of Hospice of the Bluegrass, Crystal Jones and Gayle.
Visitation will be Monday, February 24, 2014 from 5 to 7PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 7PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Doug Daniels officiating. Graveside service will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 1PM at the Day-Jackson Cemetery, Cranks, KY with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
