Avon Ann Hensley

Avon Ann Hensley, born on February 13, 1955, in Mount Orab, Ohio, passed away on September 4, 2025, at Baptist Health Corbin in Kentucky. A dedicated machine operator for Levi Strauss, she brought her strong work ethic and commitment to her job, embodying the spirit of resilience throughout her career.

Avon was a woman who embraced life with open arms. She held a deep belief in the Pentecostal faith, which provided her with strength and guidance. Her passion for traveling and the joys of life were evident to all who knew her. Avon was not only a devoted family member but also a skilled hunter, often demonstrating her prowess that would rival even the most seasoned marksmen. Known for her humor, she had a knack for telling a good joke, which served as a reminder of her kind-hearted nature.

She leaves behind her beloved son, Lee Hensley and Sharon; her daughter, Jennifer Herron and Justin; her brothers, Danny Howard and Mark Howard; her sisters, Barbara Saylor, Paula Osborne and Don; grandchildren, Josh, Joseph, Jordan, James, Jacob, Justin, Jennifer LeeAnn; as well as her special great-grandchild, Lakelyn Rose. Avon also cherished many other family members and friends who will remember her fondly and carry her spirit in their hearts.

Avon is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Effie "Tootsie" Howard; and her brothers, Charles Ray Howard, Paris Barry Howard, Jimmy Wayne Howard, and Luke Christian Howard.

Visitation services for Avon will be held on September 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home located at 122 N Cumberland Ave, Harlan, KY 40831. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with interment following in the Saylor Cemetery in Molus, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
