Brian Perkins, beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away on July 7, 2026 at his home. Born in Harlan on June 9, 1963, Brian’s life was deeply rooted in the community and among the people he loved.
Brian’s legacy is measured not only by the years he spent with us but also by the deep connections and love he shared with his family and friends. He united his life with Deborah Lewis Perkins, his devoted wife, who remains a steadfast testament to their enduring partnership. Together they built a family that stands tall in his memory.
Brian leaves behind his beloved sister Callie Perkins, beloved daughters, Kelli Cahill and Rebecca Crider. His bond with Kelli continued to grow as she began her own family with Cainan Cahill, Brian’s son-in-law. His grandchildren were a source of boundless pride for him—Pepsi Asher, Eva Cahill, Katelyn Crider, Madison Crider, Timothy Crider, and Kennedy Jade, each holding a special place in his heart.
In the circle of family, Brian was also supported by his mother-in-law, Peggy Lewis; his brother, Wesley Perkins; his sisters, Donna Warren, Helen Jean Perkins, Valerie Perkins, and Dorena Perkins; his nephews, Jesse Warren, Jacob Warren, Jason Perkins, Justin Perkins, Noah Perkins, and Logan Perkins; his niece DeAnna Middleton; and great niece Emma Middleton. Their close-knit relationships, forged through years of love and shared experiences, were precious to him.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Donald Perkins, his mother, Callie Fee Perkins, brothers Joseph Donald Perkins Jr, and George Neal Perkins, and niece Brianna Perkins. Their guidance and love laid the foundation for the man Brian became.
Throughout his life, Brian navigated both triumph and challenge with quiet strength and a giving spirit. He found meaning in family gatherings, laughter, and the simply profound joys of sharing time with those dearest to him. Though our hearts are heavy in his absence, the memory of his steadfast love, warmth, and sincerity will remain with us always.
Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects during visitation, to be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 122 N Cumberland Ave, Harlan, KY 40831, on July 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating Brian’s life will also be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home on July 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM with Darrell Turner and Ken Smith officiating. Following the service, Brian will be laid to rest at Mullins Cemetery, Putney, KY.
Though words can scarcely capture the fullness of a life so well-lived, those who knew Brian will forever cherish the moments, lessons, and love he shared. His kindness, devotion, and unassuming strength will continue to resonate in the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.
