Charles Pruitt Jr., 89 of Catrons Creek, made his journey home to the Lord on April 26, 2023 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Harlan County on March 8, 1934 to Charles Pruitt and Lillian Fultz Pruitt. 
A lifelong resident of Harlan, He was proceeded in death by his Parents; An infant brother, Billy Pruitt, Brother Henry Lincoln (HL) Pruitt Sr.; Brother-in-law, Tommy Lee Crider Sr. and a Nephew, Tommy Lee Crider Jr.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in France as a mechanic. He worked as a mechanic in his civilian life after leaving the army and co-owned his own garage with his brothers in his younger years. He served as the mechanic for Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in the mid to late 1970s when it was under the ownership of the late Harold and Virginia Ball and then in the early to mid 1980s under the ownership of Jimmy Smith. In his youth he enjoyed gardening, writing and caring for his family. He was an avid lover of the US Constitution and all things American. He believed the Baptist faith.
Charles is survived by his Brother, Sheridan Pruitt of Catrons Creek; Sister, JoAnn Pruitt Crider of Florida; Special Nephew and his Wife Henry Jr. and Kathaleen Pruitt of Catrons Creek; Three Nieces, Teresa Pruitt of Harlan, Krystal Graham of Washington and Shelia Pruitt of Florida; Nephew, Randolph Scott Crider and his Wife Joy of Arizona.
He is also survived by seven Great Nieces, Sheena and Husband David Hibbard of Lexington, Shasta Thompson of Richmond, Ka'ssee and Husband Matthew Barnett of Louisville, Jeannie Poteet, Tiffany Pruitt and Andrea Pruitt all of Harlan and Meshia Crider of Louisiana; Eight Great Nephews, Henry Lincoln Pruitt III of Harlan, Charles Priesler of Arizona, Zachary Crider of Arizona, Brian Cooper of Washington, Michael Anderson and Kastiel Anderson of Texas, Tommy Lee Crider III and Daniel Crider both of Lousiana; Great Great Nieces and Nephews, Kamryn Stocker, Ryane Peak, Zack Peak, Alexandria Linville, Jagger McClure, Wilder Logan, Aubrey Poteet, Anderson Poteet, Ariana Bailey, Myra Bailey, Rain Langley, Aiden Roper, Josiliyn Pruitt; One Great Great Great Nephew, Xander Leslie. He is also survived by one God (daughter)-great niece Shylea Ball.

Visitation for Mr. Pruitt will be Monday, May 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home from 12PM to 2PM the Funeral Service will follow at 2PM with Mitchell Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with The Harlan County Honor Guard providing Military Rites.
