Danny Lynn Cole

Danny Lynn Cole, age 79, of Harlan, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 4, 1946, in Harlan, Kentucky. Danny was a US Army Veteran who served two tours in Vietnam over the course of eleven years before working as a truck driver. He shared 48 years with his beloved wife Kathy Cole and was a jack of all trades, loved woodworking, and his biggest joy was his grandchildren.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, JC Cole; his mother, Thelma Cole (Pace); his brothers JC "Butch" Cole, Mike Cole, and Robert Tony Cole.

He leaves behind his devoted wife Kathy Cole; their children, Ina Spivey of Oakridge, TN, Jackie Haynes of Morristown, TN, Renee Marlowe (Stanley) of Harlan, Ky, and Terry Shipley of GA; his sister Betty Guthrie (Mike) of Black Mountain, Kentucky; his grandchildren Brandon Spivey of Oakridge, TN, Marissa Akers of Loyall, Ky, and Brystal Marlowe of Harlan, Ky; a special grandson Taylor Lee Cusick whom he helped raise like his own son; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1st, 2026 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm with Bo Lee officiating. Internment will follow at Evarts Memorial Gardens with Stanley Marlowe, Taylor Cusick, Adam Akers, Justin Howard, Adam Shell, Ryan Sawyers, Zack Shell, and Trenton Pace serving as pallbearers.
