Jerry Wayne Saylor

February 13, 1948 — May 3, 2025

Harlan, KY

Jerry Wayne Saylor, a beloved husband, father, and dedicated community servant, passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 77 in his hometown of Harlan, Kentucky. Born on February 13, 1948, Jerry embraced life in a way that reflected his deep commitment to family, faith, and the well-being of others. For the past 26 years as a Christian, Jerry embraced life to the fullest.

As a young man, Jerry's life was a self-centered life. His relationship with his family was not a relationship of trust and committed love, Jerry lived a sinful life. When Jerry was saved and gave his life to Jesus 26 years ago, his relationship with his family, his sons and his x-wife was restored to a life of love and trust. For the past 26 years, he served as a licensed Minister, focusing much of his ministry on jail outreach in Central Kentucky. This calling allowed him to touch countless lives, offering hope and guidance to many during their most challenging times. He proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran, a chapter of his life that profoundly shaped his character and values.

Jerry's personal life was enriched by the love of his family. He leaves behind his cherished wife, June Saylor, who stood by his side through life's many journeys. His legacy continues through his son, Jerry Wayne Saylor, and his stepsons, Harvey Szczepan and Walter Szczepan; brother, Jimmy Craig. As a proud grandfather, Jerry took immense joy in his four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents, Levi Saylor and Maggie Moore; his daughter, Rebecca Jean Saylor; and his siblings, Don Saylor and Debbie Caldwell.

A visitation to honor Jerry’s life will take place on May 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. This will be followed by a homegoing service to honor Jerry's life starting at 6:00 PM with the Reverends Bo Lee and Charles Gearheart officiating. Here family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable journey and the indelible mark he leaves on their hearts.

Jerry Wayne Saylor will be remembered for his fortitude, kindness, and devotion to helping others. His spirit touched many, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
