Melinda Gail Johnson Smith

Melinda Gail Johnson Smith, 66, of Stanfill, Kentucky passed away at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital on April 15, 2026. She was born on January 24th, 1960. A devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and special friend, she was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

Melinda is preceded in death by her parents, David Johnson, Sr. and Lydia Johnson, father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Isom Gerald Smith I and Phyllis Smith, brothers, Edward Johnson, David Johnson, Jr., sisters Anna Lutz, Judy, Dilliam, and Ellen Vickers, sisters-in-law, Sherry Brackett, and Tammy Smith Maggard.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving husband, Isom Gerald Smith II, Sons, Isom Gerald (JJ) Smith III and girlfriend, Sara Farmer and her 2 children James David Shepherd and Carson Lynn Shepherd, sisters, Joyce Faye Moore, and Patricia Jean Johnson, sister-in-law, Virginia Johnson, brothers-in-law, James Maggard, Billy Brackett, Billy Smith and wife, Doreen. Also surviving is her special friend, Charlotte Farmer, and grand-dog, Meeka. 

Visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 5pm to 8pm at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will be Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1pm in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with Willard Pace officiating.  Burial will be at the Stanfill Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
