Pamela Jo Mize

Pamela Jo Mize left her earthly home and entered her heaven on September 28, 2026. She was born to the late Charles “Dick” Russell and Pauline Fitzpatrick Russell on September 18, 1948, in Lexington, KY. Pam and her family moved from Hazard to Harlan when she was 9 years old. Her dad became the head butcher at the A&P in Harlan. She would later attend Harlan High School and went on to study at Eastern Kentucky University. She later went on to return to Harlan, where she worked at Pollite Insurance and assisted her father in opening his own grocery business in Rio Vista that became known as Russell's Grocery. She eventually met the love of her life, Larry W. Mize. They went on to get married on New Year's Eve of 1974. They soon began to take care of and grow their family, keeping the Lord as the center of both their marriage and family. Pam was a devoted Christian her entire life and served the Lord in many small and big ways. She also made sure to keep the house full of animals, as they were also her children, often being referred to as her fur babies. But above all, Pam loved her family, and she did anything in her power to make sure you had all of your needs met. One of the big ways she did this was by cooking. It didn't matter if it was for a bake sale fundraiser and Mussette dinners to massive Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners where we had leftovers for a week; she was going to make sure we ate. And even if she didn't cook for you, she would offer you anything and everything in her kitchen. Pam will be missed by all that knew her and loved her, including a wide variety of friends, family, and her fur babies.

Pam is preceded in death by both her parents, Charles “Dick” Russell and Pauline Fitzpatrick Russell, and her mother-in-law, Winifred “Winnie” Mize, and father-in-law, JC “Cedar” Mize, as well as one daughter, Heather Jo Mize Burkhart

Pam leaves behind the love of her life, whom she was married to for 52 lovely years, Larry W. Mize; one daughter, Londa Jo Mize Roark; and son-in-law Jeff Roark; son-in-law Bobby Burkhart; seven grandkids: Jessica York (Gregory), Rebekah Jo Roark, Andrew Roark, Katelyn Burkhart (Bailey), Allyssa Jo Burkhart, Adam Burkhart (Emily), Gabriella Jo Burkhart, One great granddaughter Ava JoLee York. And one cousin, Jim (Freddy Jane) Fitzpatrick, And friend Marybeth Till
