William Joe Day

William Joe Day, age 86, of Harlan, Kentucky passed away August 19th, 2026, at the Harlan ARH Hospital. He was born July 22, 1940, in Harlan, Kentucky to Bill Day and Willia Mae Turner-Day whom both precede him in death.

Also preceding him in death is his wife, Helen Fee Day; one granddaughter, Rachel Hensley; two sisters, Teddy Sayers, and Shelia Day; and one brother Robert Day.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Sturgill of Totz, Kentucky; one son, Walter Douglas Day of Totz, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Shannon (Tim) Jenkins of Cumberland, Kentucky, Mandie (Cameron) Clabo of Tennessee, Micheal Woodard of Harlan, Kentucky, Charlie Day of Harlan, Kentucky, and Shawn Ashley of Totz, Kentucky; five great grandchildren, Rachel Jenkins, Hanna Jenkins, Rebecca Jenkins, Jeremiah Jenkins, and William Jenkins all of Cumberland, Kentucky; four sisters, Jean Nolan of Totz, Kentucky, Betty (Richard) Lambert of Bakersfield, California, Gail Johnson of Reedsville, Indiana, and Gorgia (William) Curley of Lizton, Indiana; two brothers, Ron (Ruby) Day of Mexia, Texas, and Rex Day of Cumberland, Kentucky; he is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, at 4:00pm in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with Pastors Roger Colinger and Homer Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Day Family Cemetery in Totz, Kentucky with Logan Fee, Michael Barker, Jeremiah Jenkins, John Paul, Johnny Couch, Chris Brown, and Timothy Jenkins serving as pallbearers.
